We Have Defended the HR Award Successfully

1. 3. 2021 - Tereza Ondráčková

The European Commission has appreciated the progress we have made over the last two years in improving working conditions at the university.

In November 2020, two years after receiving the HR Award, we prepared an internal evaluation of the implementation of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, developed into an action plan. On 26 February, 2021, we received feedback from the European Commission's assessors.

The assessors were satisfied with the level of implementation of the action plan, although some actions had to be postponed. For example, satisfaction with conducting employee surveys was mentioned as a great way to find out the needs and satisfaction of employees.

It was recommended to focus more on attracting academics and researchers from abroad and to pay more attention to the training and careers of doctoral students.

A further evaluation will be carried out in three years, with the full-time participation of the European Commission's assessors at the university.

By implementing the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, following the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, we make Mendel University in Brno a better place to work for researchers, academics and all other staff. We are thus contributing to the European Research Area to make careers in science and research more attractive and to attract talented individuals who are at the forefront of European science.
