MENDELU back-to-work grant has its winners

11. 9. 2023

The second year of the back-to-work grant of the Grant Agency of Gregor Johann Mendel of Mendel University in Brno (internal research projects category C) , whose main goal is to enable scientists to return from maternity/parental leave to a full-fledged scientific career at the university, has its winners.

The back-to-work grant is intended for highly motivated MENDELU researchers and academics who are or have been on maternity or parental leave and are caring for a child under the age of six (one or more children) and have more than half-time employment. If the employee has not taken maternity leave, but only parental leave, the duration of parental leave is also a requirement for at least one year.

This year's has two winners, who are:

  • Ing. Kristýna Šmerková, Ph.D. with the project Antibacterial nanomaterials as an alternative to antibiotic therapy in bovine mastitis
  • Ana María Jiménez Jiménez, Ph.D. with the project Functional and molecular analysis of the role of transgelin-2 as a factor driving chemoresistance and invasion of prostate cancer cells

MENDELU will help the winning scientists to manage their projects by financially supporting their childcare. Among other things, they will be able to choose their talent manager.

Congratulations to both winners!
