Discussion forum: Equality begins at home

14. 11. 2024

We warmly invite all employees and students to join a discussion on the topic of fair parenting and equitable household responsibilities, focusing on how the division of domestic duties impacts the lives and career opportunities of both genders.

What’s in Store?

We’ll be discussing key questions, including:

  • Unequal Distribution of Household Responsibilities:

How does it affect not only partnership and family life but also the career growth opportunities of women and men? How can daily tasks and responsibilities at home be divided fairly? What is invisible work?

  • Active Fatherhood:

What is the importance of fathers actively participating in family life? Should men take parental leave? How does a father’s absence impact the upbringing of children?

  • Family, Employers, and the State:

How do these three entities influence each other in the context of sharing care and responsibilities within the family?

Who Will Be Speaking?

We’re excited to welcome insightful guests who bring valuable perspectives to the topic:

  • Martina Dvořáková – Founder of Férová domácnost, a project focused on raising awareness about fair division of household work and the invisible labor often undertaken by women. Learn more at ferovadomacnost.cz.
  • Martin Matušek – A psychologist who has been working on issues related to relationships and family dynamics in Czech society.
  • Zdeněk Sloboda – Chair of the Men and Gender Equality Working Group under the Government Council for Gender Equality, who will share insights on the role of men and fatherhood in achieving gender equality.

The discussion will be moderated by Martina Rašticová from the Faculty of Business and Economics at MENDELU, who connects issues of equal opportunities with social responsibility in her work.

When: Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Where: MENDELU, Building E, Auditorium E02

Language: Czech
