Why should the university create and evaluate personal plans?
Evaluating employees is one of the most important motivational means and a tool for improving the working environment at MENDELU. Making evaluations and writing personal plans help view subordinates as people with their own strengths, needs, wishes and preferences, and support employees in their development, independence and achievement of the required standard of work performance. A good-quality individual plan helps build relationships and a sense of trust, because employees can see that there is somebody who truly cares about them.
The personal plan of each employee is a formal document of the key work tasks assigned by the managerial employee pursuant to the Labour Code.
It should include:
- an evaluation of the fulfilment of a personal plan for the previous period, if a personal plan had been drawn up for the previous period (this applies, for instance, to newly recruited employees)
- a plan of work activities for the upcoming period
- a professional development plan for the upcoming period
How and when to create personal plans
The respective managerial employee decides on the form in which personal plans are created and evaluated. However, the plans must be produced in writing. You may use forms designed by the HRMO, customise them and make them more specific to fit your needs:
PERSONAL PLAN FOR AN ACADEMIC WORKER AND RESEARCHER
PERSONAL PLAN FOR AN ADMINISTRATIVE WORKER
PERSONAL PLAN FOR AN MANUAL LABOURER
Bear in mind that personal plans:
- are based on the needs and tasks of units and concurrently on proposals made by employees
- must comply with the particular profession and its job description given in the Internal Catalogue of Work (academic positions), with the employee’s job description (non-academic positions) *
- must be feasible for the agreed-upon period, are based on the full time equivalent of each employee, and their fulfilment must depend on facts which are within the employee’s sphere of work activities
- may include, in respect of professional development, activities offered by the Institute of Lifelong Learning at MENDELU or other educational activities, mentoring, trips abroad, etc.
- may follow from an Internal Quality Evaluation
- must be filled in, printed and signed by both parties
- must be kept at your workplace; one copy or counterpart is given to the employee.
Personal plans for MENDELU employees are produced on an annual basis for a period of one year. They will be first created for 2022 at the beginning of 2022. Where employees work in multiple job positions, a separate personal plan must be produced for each individual position.
If you would like to know how your subordinates view you, you can use the below form:
EVALUATION OF A MANAGERIAL EMPLOYEE BY A SUBORDINATE (this evaluation is voluntary)
* For better targeting personal plans for technical and economic staff members and manual labourers, you can also use information available on the Národní soustava povolání website, or on the Catalogue of Competency Models of non-academic job positions at MENDELU website.
