Personal plans

What is a personal plan

The personal plan of each employee is a formal document of the key work tasks assigned by the managerial employee pursuant to the Labour Code.

The objective of a personal plan is to define the principal work assignments for a given year and activities that will help employees meet the required standard of work performance, broaden or improve work competencies, achieve a higher level of education/obtain an academic title, move up the career ladder, harmonise their own work activities, find the right work-life balance, etc. Employees are actively involved in the process of devising their plan together with their supervisor. It is therefore expected that an employee presents their proposal to their supervisor first, then they discuss it together, amend it if necessary, and sign it.

It should include:

  • an evaluation of the fulfilment of a personal plan for the previous period, if a personal plan had been drawn up for the previous period (this applies, for instance, to newly recruited employees)
  • a plan of work activities for the upcoming period
  • a professional development plan for the upcoming period (training and education, self-improvement, working on projects, travelling abroad, internships and other activities that will advance the employee professionally)

How and when to create personal plans

The respective managerial employee decides on the form in which personal plans are created and evaluated. However, the plans must be produced in writing. If agreed upon with the managerial employee, you can use or draw inspiration from the forms designed by the HRMO:

PERSONAL PLAN FOR AN ACADEMIC WORKER  AND RESEARCHER

PERSONAL PLAN FOR AN ADMINISTRATIVE WORKER

PERSONAL PLAN FOR AN MANUAL LABOURER

PERSONAL PLAN FOR A MANAGER

Personal plans for MENDELU employees are produced on an annual basis for a period of one year. Where employees work in multiple job positions, a separate personal plan must be produced for each individual position.
