Mendel University in Brno ranks amongst the most important employers in the South Moravian region. Our aim is to provide quality education, conduct first-rate research and play an important social role not only in Brno and the South Moravian region but also in the Czech Republic as a whole and on the international level.

In the THE World University Rankings 2026, MENDELU was placed in the 1201-1500 band globally. The University is also ranked in five THE subject rankings, achieving its best result in Life Sciences, where it was ranked 601-800 in 2026. In the THE Impact Rankings 2025, which measure universities' contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), MENDELU was placed in the 801-1000 band overall. For SDG 2: Zero Hunger, the University ranked in the 101-200 band worldwide.

MENDELU also performs consistently well in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rankings. In the latest QS World University Rankings 2027, the University was placed in the 951-1000 band globally. A particularly strong result was achieved in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, where MENDELU ranked in the 101-150 band for Agriculture & Forestry. In the regional QS World University Rankings: Eastern Europe 2026, the University was ranked 25th.

University sustainability is assessed by the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. In the 2025 edition, MENDELU was ranked 470th worldwide with an overall score of 6,950 points. The ranking evaluates universities across several areas, including campus infrastructure, energy use and climate action, waste and water management, transportation, and sustainability-related education and research.

In 2025, MENDELU was also included for the first time in the CWTS Leiden Ranking, which focuses primarily on universities' scientific performance using bibliometric indicators. In the traditional ranking based on Web of Science data, MENDELU was assessed among 1,594 universities from 77 countries and ranked 10th in the Czech Republic. In the open version of the ranking, based on the OpenAlex database, the University achieved 9th place among Czech higher education institutions.
