Department of Human Resources Management

Working environment

The university campus is located almost in the centre of Brno, in Černá Pole, which is one of the most attractive districts of the city. The site is surrounded by the First-Republic-era houses and villas, and the famous functionalist Villa Tugendhat as well as the equally interesting Era Café are located nearby.

Night of ScientistsOn the campus grounds and in the surrounding area you will find everything you need in your daily life. Classrooms, laboratories and offices with state-of-the-art equipment are a matter of course. You can park on the premises and there are bus and tram stops virtually at the front door of the main building. A canteen is available for employees, and you can have a coffee or snack in one of the two snack bars. If you want to clear your head, you can go to the Botanical Garden and Arboretum, which are part of the premises.

The second university campus is located in Lednice – a jewel of Southern Moravia registered on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites.

The university also comprises two special-purpose facilities for research and teaching – the Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest Křtiny and the University Agricultural Enterprise in Žabčice.

Working at the university brings with it many diverse experiences. We have fun at balls, sporting events (hockey, Rector’s Run, dragon boats), ceremonies, science popularisation events (Researchers’ Night, various exhibitions, etc.), and so much more.

The employees are looked after by the The Human Resources Management Office. A Welcome Office has been created to assist foreign employees with the formalities associated with starting their employment and to help them to familiarise themselves with life at Mendel University and with Brno and to find out how things work in the Czech Republic. It will be at your disposal for the whole period of your employment at Mendel University and will also give you a helping hand if you decide to leave.

Researchers can access information related to the project agenda, intellectual property rights, protection and commercialisation of results and other matters on the Academics and Researches website.
